Could This House Be Haunted?

My first-hand story reveals chilling encounters during a property sale that left me with more questions than answers.

Are haunted houses real? With Halloween right around the corner, I’ve got a spine-chilling story to share. If you’re in real estate like me, you know that some homes come with more than just a leaky roof or peeling paint—they come with a history. So, what happens when you find a “diamond in the rough” that might be hiding more than just dust and cobwebs? Let me take you inside one of my most unforgettable listings.

It all started 12 years ago. I’d just listed a 3,000-square-foot hoarder house sitting on five acres in Round Mountain. It was a bargain at $150,000—three-car garage, pool (which was more swamp than swimming), and stunning mountain views. But this wasn’t just any old house; it was packed with all sorts of junk, including a boat motor sitting right in the living room. As creepy as it was, I thought I could handle it. But then… things got weird.

“Houses tell stories, and sometimes, those stories can be downright chilling.”

Picture this: a freezing night, and I’m parked in the long driveway waiting for potential buyers. It’s late, and I’m tired from taking care of my newborn. I dozed off a bit, but then I snapped awake. There, in the garage, stood an old man—white hair, white beard, and overalls. Just a T-shirt, despite the biting cold. I thought he was a vagrant, so I grabbed my flashlight and a stick, ready to confront him. But when the buyers arrived, we found the house locked, just as it should be. No sign of anyone inside.

Was I seeing things? Maybe. But a week later, another real estate agent called me, describing the same old man! In fact, three more people reported seeing him over the next few weeks, all matching my description. One even saw him on the roof, holding a shotgun, shouting, “Get off my property!” Yet every time, we found nothing.

So, was this place haunted? I’m still not sure. But there’s one thing I am certain of. Houses tell stories, and sometimes, those stories can be downright chilling. Have you ever been in a haunted house? I’d love to hear your stories. You can call or text me at 512-587-4050 and you can tell me your horrifying experience.
